The East Hall volleyball program defeated Duluth and Lanier in straight sets on Tuesday in Gainesville. The Lady Vikings (4-3) beat Duluth by scores of 25-15 and 25-12 in their first match of the evening and finished the night with a win over Lanier by scores of 25-17 and 25-16.

Brittney Campbell had 20 points on serve, including a seven point-service run in both matches with seven aces. She also had five kills, seven digs and 32 assists. Kara Hix scored 12 points on serve with two aces, three assists, four kills and 30 digs.

Tarryn Long scored four points on serve with three aces, 25 kills, two assists, and 18 digs. East Hall faces Flowery Branch and Prince Avenue on Thursday in Athens.

NORTH HALL SWEEPS TRI-MATCH: The Lady Trojans beat Lakeview and Chestatee in straight sets at home on Tuesday night in their first matches of the season. North Hall, now 2-0, defeated Lakeview 25-20 and 25-14 and Chestatee 25-11 and 25-15.

Alesha Lee had four kills, three blocks, three digs, and two aces with a six-point service run for North Hall. Kristina Gregory had 11 assists, five aces, a kill and a block. Sydney Cleveland had seven kills, five digs, and two blocks for the Lady Trojans.

North Hall returns to action on Thursday at Johnson.

Softball

JACKSON COUNTY 1, OGLETHORPE 0 (MONDAY): The Jackson County Lady Panthers opened the season with a win in their first game, shutting out the Oglethorpe Patriots by a score of 1-0 at Jackson County.

Sophomore Jessica Baker pitched seven innings for the Lady Panthers, striking out seven batters and giving up only three hits. Peyton Sorrells was 2 for 3 in the game, while Victoria Fontana, Andrea Ledford, Jessica Baker and Cassie Satterfield all had one hit for Jackson County. Freshman Madi Pecht scored the game’s only run after stealing a pair of bases as a courtesy runner for Baker.

Jackson County returns to action today against Archer at the Hawk/Bulldog Invitational at Mill Creek.
