Bria Bush pitched the Buford Lady Wolves to an 8-2 win over Jefferson in their season opener Monday night in Jefferson. Bush pitched seven innings with six hits, seven strikeouts and one walk while only allowing one earned run.
Baylee Sexton went 2 for 3 for the wolves with one RBI and two runs scored. Noah Sudderth went 1 for 3 and had an RBI for the Lady Wolves, and Bekan Rude went 1 for 2 with an RBI. Remington Hasty had two RBIs for Buford.
The Lady Wolves (1-0) play St. Pius on Wednesday at the Georgia Dugout Club Tournament at Wesleyan.
LUMPKIN COUNTY 9, GILMER 1: The Lady Indians opened the season with a win Monday in Dahlonega.
Ashley Brown led Lumpkin County from the pitcher’s circle and at the plate, going 2 for 2 while tossing a five-inning complete game with only two hits allowed.
Taylor Turk added a solo home run for the Lady Indians, who scored four runs in the fourth inning and finished with nine total hits.
Lumpkin County returns to action Wednesday in tournament play at Madison County High School. The Lady Indians are scheduled to play at 6 and 8 p.m.
