North Hall’s girls tennis team picked up a pair of straight-set doubles victories to propel them to a 5-0 win against Adairsville on Thursday in Gainesville.

Hannah Gibson/Kaitlyn Smith and Karleigh Dills/McKay Higginbotham earned wins for the Lady Trojans.

Natalie Oxley won at No. 1 singles, and Tricia Dial picked up the No. 2 singles win. Courtney Barnes battled for almost three hours before earning the win in a third-set tiebreaker.

North Hall visits St. Pius X on Monday.

LADY FALCONS EARN FIRST ROUND WIN: Durden Smith and Madison Smith both earned 6-0, 6-0 singles wins for Flowery Branch as the team swept Arabia Mountain 5-0 on Thursday at home.

Nicole Morris won at No. 1 singles, and Breanna Benton/Brooke Kane and Kaia Clark/Ashley Coleman claimed doubles victories.

FLOWERY BRANCH BOYS FALTER IN ROUND 2: After sweeping Tucker 3-0 on Wednesday in Flowery Branch, the Falcons fell 3-0 to Cambridge on Thursday at home.

On Wednesday, Flowery Branch got wins from Beau Millwood, Watson Lewis, and Taylor Fiorello/Clay King.


LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 9, TOWNS COUNTY 0: Dakota Chalmers threw a no-hitter with 13 strikeouts for the Lions in the final game of the season on Thursday in Gainesville.

Drake Hollander went 4 for 4 with a double and three singles for Lakeview, David Fadool was 2 for 3 with two RBIs and Patrick Avery finished 1 for 2 with a single and an RBI.

GAINESVILLE 11, CEDAR SHOALS 1: Drew Satterfield led the Red Elephants at the plate with three hits and four RBIs in the final regular season game on Thursday in Athens.

Anthony Carrera had a double and a home run with five RBIs for Gainesville (20-6), Michael Gettys hit a home run, and Sims Griffith recorded two hits.

Sam Carpenter picked up the win from the mound with eight strikeouts over five innings.

The Red Elephants host a first-round playoff opponent next Friday in Gainesville.

JEFFERSON SWEEPS DOUBLEHEADER: The Dragons rounded out the regular season with 10-2 and 10-4 victories against Oglethorpe County on Thursday in Lexington.

In Game 1, Christian Hutch went 2 for 5 with three RBIs, Jake Franklin was 2 for 3 with two runs scored, and Hanon Price went 1 for 3 with a run scored.

Micah Carpenter earned the win pitching in the first game with 10 strikeouts over five innings.

Alex Gaba led Jefferson in Game 2 with four RBIs and two runs scored in a 2-for-4 performance. Taylor Wilkes was 3 for 3 with two runs scored for the Dragons, and Ethan Garner got the win on the hill.

Jefferson finishes the regular season 21-3 and with a perfect 14-0 region record to earn the Region 8-AA championship.

The Dragons host the first round of the state playoffs on May 2.


WEST HALL BOYS 2, NORTH HALL 1 (Wednesday, PKs): All four West Hall shooters scored in penalty kicks to push the Spartans to victory on Wednesday in Gainesville.

Steve Rodriguez scored for West Hall to tie the game, and Ricardo Castruita, Jordan Moreno, Isaac Castruita and Sammy Coto scored in PKs.

Cesar Villa blocked a North Hall kick, while another missed wide of the goal to give the Spartans the win.

WEST HALL GIRLS 6, NORTH HALL 0 (Wednesday): Katie Forrester scored a pair of goals for West Hall on Wednesday in Gainesville.

Katie Kirkland had a goal and five assists, one of which was North Hall own goal. Gabrielle Ligas had a goal and an assist, and Kristen Newstrom added a goal.

Kylie Beaman made five saves in the shutout win.
