Sosebee's walk-off lifts White County over Monroe Area

Trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the eighth inning Friday, White County's David Sosebee stepped to the plate with a man on and drilled a walk-off home run to give the Warriors a 3-2 win over Monroe Area in Cleveland. With the win, White County (19-3, 18-3 Region 8-AAA) remains in a tie for first-place in the region with North Hall, which also won Friday.

Sosebee finished the night 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Luke Crumley threw seven innings, striking out 14 and giving up two hits in the no decision. Spencer Adams threw the eighth inning to earn the win for White County, which hosts Lanier at 5:55 p.m. Monday

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 16, TALLULAH FALLS 2 (FIVE INNINGS): Nick Drury hit a grand slam in the fourth inning, and Jacob Whitenton added a three-run home run, as the Lions won Friday in Tallulah Falls. Taylor Simpson went 2-for-3 with four runs scored for Lakeview (12-11, 10-8 Region 8-A), which sits in fourth place in the region, and needs to win its two remaining games to earn a spot in the Class A state playoffs.

Austin Montgomery earned the win, giving up three hits and striking out two for Lakeview, which visits Towns County at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

JACKSON COUNTY 5, EAST HALL 0: Colin Zimmer threw 6 1/3 innings, striking out 12 and giving up three hits and four walks, to earn the win Friday in Gainesville in the Region 8-AA consolation bracket for teams who have been eliminated from postseason contention. Tony Holton (1-for-4) drove in two runs, while Trey Sorrells (1-for-2) and Chase Dunlap (1-for-3) each drove in one for Jackson County (10-13), which visits East Jackson at 5:55 p.m. Monday.

OCONEE COUNTY 14, CHESTATEE 0 (FIVE INNINGS): The War Eagles managed just two hits Friday in Watkinsville. Scott Chewning and Dillon Brewster each had one hit for Chestatee, which visits Johnson at 5:55 p.m. Monday.
