North Georgia Christian girls win 1-0

Kayla Goodson scored the lone goal of the game as the North Georgia Christian girls soccer team (6-5) shut out Loganville Christian 1-0 on Saturday in Loganville. Missy McLagan recorded the shutout in goal for the Lady Chargers.

North Georgia Christian travels to Horizon Christian Academy on Friday in Cumming for the regular season finale.

NORTH GEORGIA CHRISTIAN BOYS 1, LOGANVILLE CHRISTIAN 1: Corwin Kulig scored for the Chargers on Saturday in Loganville and Dylan Boonstra allowed just one goal.

North Georgia Christian finishes the regular season at 6 p.m. Tuesday against Crown Athletic in Marietta.

EAST JACKSON GIRLS 7, EAST HALL 0 (Friday): The Lady Vikings finished as the No. 4 seed in Region 8-AA North and will travel to Jefferson for the first game of the region tournament at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

EAST HALL BOYS 4, EAST JACKSON 1 (Friday): Saul Lopez led the Vikings (10-2-1) with two goals and two assists in the regular season finale.

East Hall also got a goal and an assist from Julio Avila, a goal from Jason Mendoza and an assist from Diego Trejo.
The Vikings, the No. 1 seed from the North subregion, host Jefferson at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the opening round of the region tournament.


BANKS COUNTY SPLITS DOUBLEHEADER WITH UNION (Friday): Brenton Ruark struck out nine in five-plus innings and Cody Watkins finished 2 for 2 with a pair of RBIs to lead the Leopards by Union County 4-2 in the first game of a doubleheader Friday to clinch the Region 8-AA North title.

Taylor Foster pitched 1 1/3 innings with three strikeouts to record the save for Banks County and added a run-scoring single.

The Panthers won 9-2 in the second game of the night. Banks County will host South No. 4 seed Jefferson on Wednesday.

JEFFERSON 8, EAST JACKSON 2 (Friday): Matt Bowen picked up the win on the mound for the Dragons (11-8, 7-5 Region 8-AA South), who had three straight home runs in an eight-run third inning to power ahead. No. 4 Jefferson will play Wednesday at North No. 1 Banks County in the opening round of the region playoffs.
