High school higlights: Cherokee Bluff boys claims tennis title in 7-3A; Gainesville boys win in lacrosse
Tennis

The Cherokee Bluff boys tennis team picked up a clean sweep of Gilmer, winning 3-0 to earn the Region 7-3A championship Thursday. 

Joshua Reynolds and Mason Smith won in singles for the Bears, while the doubles team of Lee McDaniel/Ricky Lush was also victorious. 

In the girls championship match, Cherokee Bluff lost 3-1 to Lumpkin County. 

With the loss, the Lady Bears will open the postseason with the No. 2 seed and will host the first-round match. 

FLOWERY BRANCH BOYS 3, OCONEE COUNTY 2: Jack Thomas, Will Hernandez and Caden Caldwell earned wins in singles for the Falcons on Thursday. 

FLOWERY BRANCH GIRLS 4, OCONEE COUNTY 1: Alyssa McSpadden, Sandra Hernandez and Julianna Velaj won in singles for the Lady Falcons on Thursday. In doubles, the duo of Katie Martin and Savannah Regnier also won. 

Lacrosse

GAINESVILLE 12, ARCHER 9: Tristan Lyon and Baylor Montoya each had a hat trick for the Red Elephants on Thursday. Isaiah Yarbrough, Luca Columbini and John Gerrell each recorded a pair of goals. Up next, Gainesville faces West Forsyth on April 13.

Baseball

FLOWERY BRANCH 10, JEFFERSON 2: Mason Compton threw six innings for the Falcons, allowing six hits and two runs to pick up the win Thursday in Jefferson. Kaleb Freeman had a pair of hits and drove in three runs for Flowery Branch. 

Up next, Flowery Branch hosts Jefferson for the final game of the three-game series Friday.  

Soccer

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY BOYS 1, MOUNT PISGAH 0 (2OT): Sam Perrott scored on a shot in the upper 90 from 25 yards out to secure the win for the Lions on Thursday. Lewis Coyle had nine saves and two game-winning saves on a breakaway.
