The Riverside Military Academy boys defeated Dawson County 58-43 Monday night to move into the Region 8-AA championship game.
Only up by three points going into the final quarter, the Eagles exploded for 30 in the final eight minutes.
Riverside (17-3) got double-digit scoring from Dylen Setzekorn (16 points), Richard Tribble (14 points) and Tarvin Dukes (13).
Tyler Dominy led the Tigers with 17 points.
Riverside will play Jefferson in the championship game 8:30 tonight at East Jackson High.
JEFFERSON BOYS 88, RABUN COUNTY 67: Jefferson lead 22-14 after the first quarter and never looked back on its way to a rout of Rabun County in the semifinals of the 8-AA region tournament.
Lead by Darius Minor’s 22 points and J.J. Damons’ 20, the Dragons had four players score in double figures.
Jefferson (21-6) will face Riverside for the region championship at 8:30 tonight at East Jackson High.
LAKEVIEW BOYS 75, SOCIAL CIRCLE 50: Leading by 34 points going into the final quarter, the Lakeview boys needed only eight points in the final eight minutes to take third place in the Region 8-A tournament Monday night at Towns County High.
Led by Jackson Wells’ 19 points and Daniel Olvera’s 16, 14 Lions scored in an easy win.
Lakeview will play Pace Academy, the second seed from Region 5-A, in the first round of the state tournament Saturday night in Atlanta.
GREATER ATLANTA CHRISTIAN GIRLS 55, BUFORD 50: The Lady Wolves fell to Greater Atlanta Christian in the 6-AA Region tournament championship.
Down by three points at the half, the Lady Wolves continued to battle in the second half and went into the final quarter trailing by only two.
Andraya Carter had 23 points and Alysha Rudnik had 10 for Buford but it was not enough to overcome a 28-point performance by Greater Atlanta Christian’s Christina Nelson.
On Saturday, Buford will play host to the winner of tonight’s Model-Calhoun game.
