Emma Easterwood scored 10 points to pace the Lady War Eagles in the second round of the Region 7-4A tournament, but Marist’s explosive offense in the first quarter and tight defense in the other three was too much for Chestatee in a 50-28 loss Thursday evening at Flowery Branch High School.
The teams stayed relatively tight on the scoreboard through the first six minutes of the game, but Marist scored the last 11 points of the first quarter to jump out to a big advantage early on. The Lady War Eagles were shut out in the second frame, as Marist built the lead up to 21 points at halftime.
Chestatee will take on Flowery Branch in the third-place game on Saturday at 3 p.m. and with the loss will start out the Class 4A state playoffs on the road.
