Girls state soccer: White leads Buford girls in 7-0 win with three goals

Lindsey White scored a hat trick for Buford (15-5) in a 7-0 win against Dublin in the second round of the Class AA state tournament on Wednesday night in Dublin. Tara Dambach, Ann Schmidt, Jessi Zaverka and Caitlyn Dawkins each added goals for the Lady Wolves. Ceely Coker finished with two assists for Buford, while Dambach, Kennedy Webster and McKenna Harwood each finished with one assist. Caitlin Hollis earned the shutout in goal for the Lady Wolves.

Buford scored its first goal in the first eight minutes of the game and continued its pace to lead 5-0 at the end of the first half.

Buford hosts Jackson County, which beat Pierce County 5-0 Wednesday, on Saturday at a time still to be determined in the state tournament quarterfinals.

DAWSON COUNTY GIRLS 1, VIDALIA 0: Taylor Bennett scored the lone goal for the Lady Tigers (17-2) on Wednesday afternoon in the second round of the Class AA state tournament in Dawsonville. Dawson County keeper Kenna Seitz earned the shutout with three saves, and defender Anna Hawkins led the Lady Tigers in the back, shutting down most of Vidalia’s scoring opportunities. Dawson County now has 15 shutouts on the season, and has scored 68 goals and allowed just six.

The Lady Tigers will host Greater Atlanta Christian at 6 p.m. Saturday in the state tournament quarterfinals.
