Gainesville's Ralston qualifies for Georgia State Golf Association Amateur Championship

Gainesville High golfer Spencer Ralston shot a 3-under par 69 for a third-place finish at the Alpharetta Athletic Club on Monday.

Ralston’s finish ensures him a spot as one of 144 players in the Georgia State Golf Association Amateur Championship on July 11-14 at Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw.

Johnson High graduate Grant Cagle, who currently plays at Georgia State University, shot a 74 to finish tied for 15th, also earning a regional spot in the championship.

Gainesville High’s Jackson Bishop carded a 75 and won a playoff against 12 other golfers to receive a first-alternate position for the championship.
