The Gainesville High boys basketball team received four first-place votes and a No. 3 ranking in Class AAA in the Georgia Sportswriters Association’s preseason poll, which was released Tuesday.

Flowery Branch is ranked sixth in the poll, and East Hall is No. 8.

The Lady Red Elephants received three first place votes and are second in the girls’ poll.

In Class AA, the Buford girls are a unanimous pick for the top spot in the state to start the season.
