Buford High football team’s defense held Greater Atlanta Christian to a total of 18 yards rushing in its 45-14 win over the Spartans on Friday night in Norcross.
Linebackers A.J. Cunningham, Jessel Curry and Nathan Staub were credited as the leaders for the Wolves’ defense.
Seon Jones led Buford’s offense with 19 carries for 160 yards and a trio of touchdowns, Alex Ross was 7-for-13 passing for 163 yards and a pair of touchdowns and sophomore quarterback Sam Clay went 2-for-2 passing for 27 yards and a touchdown.
Freshman kicker David Petroni kicked in his first-ever field goal, a 27-yarder.
Buford opens the state playoffs at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Tom Riden Stadium.

East Hall ends its season with an overall record of 1-9 and a Region 7B-AAA record of 1-4.

The Lions went into halftime with a 14-12 lead, but were unable to capitalize in their last game of the season against the Eagles on Friday in Athens.
Lakeview senior Jordan Chastain scored on a 10-yard rush and quarterback Jackson Wells hit Dalton Munday in a fake punt attempt in the loss.
The Lions end their second season with an overall record of 1-8.
WHITE COUNTY 35, GILMER 0
Cole Seagraves was 17-for-26 passing for 167 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and rushed 30 times for 164 yards to lead the Warriors to the win in Ellijay.
White County ends its season with an overall record of 7-3 and 4-2 in Region 8-AA.
COMMERCE 33, PRINCE AVENUE 7
Senior halfback Deon Brock rushed 12 times for 200 yards to lead the Tigers to the win against the Wolverines on Friday.
Quarterback Cody Streetman was 3-for-6 with 46 yards passing and a touchdown on the ground for Commerce (6-4, 5-1 Region 8-A), and Jon Cash had seven carries for 97 yards and a touchdown.
Commerce plays host the winner of the Mount Pisgah Christian-Landmark Christian game at 8 p.m. next Friday.
UNION COUNTY 49, BANKS COUNTY 0
The Panthers defeated the Leopards in their season finale game on Friday in Homer.
Union County ends its season with an overall record of 5-4 and a Region 8-AA record of 4-4.
JACKSON COUNTY 28, STEPHENS COUNTY 26
With three minutes left to play, quarterback Jalan Banks threw a reverse pass to Charlie Waycaster who ran 79 yards for a game-winning touchdown against the Indians in Toccoa.
Banks also hit Jackson County senior Darrien Rollins for a 60-yard touchdown pass and Jon Holton for another score. Zack Sticher had a rushing touchdown for the Panthers.
Jackson County ends its season 4-6 overall and 1-6 in Region 8-AAA.
GLASCOCK COUNTY 37, TOWNS COUNTY 0
The Indians lost their season finale game against Glascock County on Friday night in Hiawassee.
The Indians end the season with an overall record of 2-8.
