The Baltimore Orioles selected Flowery Branch ace Jonathan Hughes with the No. 68 overall pick in the Major League Baseball Draft late Monday night.

Hughes, who recently graduated from Flowery Branch High School, was ranked No. 188 on MLB.com’s 2015 Prospect Watch. Falcons coach Scott Myers had recently said the Orioles, Miami Marlins and Atlanta Braves were all impressed by Hughes’ pitching repertoire.

The right-handed pitcher is now the second Flowery Branch High School graduate to be taken in the MLB draft after Brad Keller (8th round to the Arizona Diamondbacks) in 2011.
