Dawson County boys, girls win tournament

The Dawson County boys and girls basketball teams swept the championship games at the Pacelli Christmas Tournament on Tuesday in Columbus.

Behind 21 points from Tyler Dominy and 15 from Stephen Johnson, the Tigers (8-2) defeated Pacelli 58-40 to win the title. Jacob Evans added 10 points for the Tigers, who lead 20-5 after the first quarter and never looked back.

The Lady Tigers (6-3) also used a big first half to take control of the girls championship game, which they won 63-34 over Pacelli. Kenna Spitz led the Lady Tigers with 14 points, while Natalie Parker socred 10 and Carly Gilreath added 13.

Dawson County's girls play Dec. 27 at the Pickens Christmas Tournament, while the boys are off until Jan. 7 when they visit Rabun County.
