Chestatee lifters win at state

The Chestatee High Olympic Style weightlifting boys and girls teams defended their state titles Saturday. Chestatee’s Megan Poole won the 56-kilogram class and was named best lifter. War Eagles lifter Robby Poole won the 77-kilogram boys class and was named best lifter for the boys.

Tia Brown won for Chestatee in the 53-kilogram class, Ali Burnette at 63 kg., and Rachel Kelly at 75-kilograms. Charlotte Hill (58-kilograms), Sonia Pizano (63-kilograms) and Nicole Long (75-kilograms) finished second for the War Eagles.

Other boys champions included Jessup Castenada (56-kilograms), Cam Phillips (69-kilograms) and Chandler Furrow (85-kilograms). Chestatee earned second from Matt Turk (69-kilograms), Steven Jefferies (77-kilograms), Tim Sullens (85-kilograms), and Ed Baker (94-kilograms).
