Buford won its Elite 8 match-up with Southeast Bulloch 8-0 in five innings Thursday at the South Commons Softball Complex in Columbus.

Buford's first hit came in the third inning on a three-run homer by Jordan Deep to break open a scoreless game with South East Bulloch. The home run brought in Remington Hasty who was hit by a pitch and Lexi Overstreet who reached on a walk.

The Lady Wolves would pick up another three runs in the fourth in almost identical fashion. This time, it was Overstreet with a three-run blast that brought in Lanier Paul and Hasty, who both reached on walks. It was Overstreet's 14th homerun of the season.

Buford ended the game via mercy rule after back-to-back RBIs from Aly Hicks and Paul in the fifth inning.

"Jordan Deep is just a freshman and for her to step up like that was huge and Lexi's been doing that all year for us," coach Tony Wolfe said.

Another freshman, Tessa Daniels, got the win on the mound in the shutout, giving up just two hits.

"I thought she did a great job in the circle," Wolfe said. "To pitch the way she did in her first game in Columbus with the pressure on was great to see."

In their second game, the Lady Wolves beat Blessed Trinity 12-0 in four innings. Buford will play Pike County on Friday at 5 p.m.
