Jordan Deep led Buford to a 9-1 win in a decisive Game 3 over Franklin County with a three-run home run in the bottom of the fourth on Thursday in Buford to send the Lady Wolves to the state championships next week in Columbus.
Deep’s home run was immediately followed by a solo home run by Tessa Daniels to put the Lady Wolves up 8-1. Daniels was 2 for 3 with three RBIs and a run scored in the game, and Deep tallied five RBIs, going 3 for 3 at the plate with two runs scored.
Niki Cook was 4 for 4 with three runs scored and a pair of stolen bases, and Remington Hasty was 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI as she was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth to increase Buford’s lead to eight and end the game.
Bria Bush (18-2) picked up the win from the mound, striking out eight in her 17th complete game of the season.
The Lady Wolves (28-3) face Jackson next Thursday in Columbus.
