FLOWERY BRANCH — It was a loss, but it was so much more than that for the Flowery Branch baseball team. After dropping the opener of a three-game series, 8-7 in 12 innings, on Wednesday against Salem High with a spot in the state playoffs on the line, Falcons’ heads hung as they walked to the dugout. It wasn’t that they lost the game, although doing so put their season on the brink of completion short of the state playoffs.
