High school tennis scoreboard: Buford boys, girls secure sweeps in region play

The Buford High boys tennis team remained perfect in Region 8-5A play with a 5-0 win against Johnson on Wednesday.

Brady Todd picked up a 6-0, 6-1 victory in No. 1 singles, while the Wolves (7-3, 3-0 region) received a 6-3, 7-5 win from Cameron Deloach in No. 2 singles. Buford’s Luke Davidson rounded out singles competition with a 6-1, 6-0 win.

Dalton Counts/Trent Milton won in No. 1 doubles (6-1, 6-0) for the Wolves, and Kurt Knudsen/Cameron Tidwell completed the sweep with a 6-0, 6-0 victory in No. 2 doubles.

Buford will participate in the Deco Turf Tournament of Champions beginning Friday in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The Wolves have matches against Carrollton and Pensacola (Fla.) Catholic on Friday before taking on Notre Dame (Tenn.) Academy on Saturday.

BUFORD GIRLS 5, JOHNSON 0: Kennedy Deloach/Taylor Ryzcek didn’t drop a game in their 6-0, 6-0 victory for the Lady Wolves in No. 2 doubles Wednesday.

Buford’s Kenzie Harms/Ainsley Keller took care of business in No. 1 doubles (6-1, 6-0). Sydney Ryder won in No. 3 singles (6-2, 6-0), while Sydney Grothe gave the Lady Wolves (5-5, 2-1 region) a 6-3, 6-4 victory in No. 2 singles. Kenzie Walters won in No. 1 singles.

Buford’s girls will also participate in the Chattanooga, Tennessee, tournament, starting against Woodland-Cartersville on Friday. The Lady Wolves then face Russell and Chattanooga (Tenn.) Christian on Saturday.
