High school scoreboard: Millie Filson's hat trick leads Lakeview Academy girls soccer team to win over George Walton Academy

Lakeview Academy’s Millie Filson scored three second-half goals to complete a hat trick in her fourth straight game as the Lady Lions beat George Walton Academy 8-0 on Tuesday. Lauren Scott added two goals for Lakeview Academy (6-2, 3-0 Region 8-A), while Maddy Towles, Hannah Perkins and Sadie Thrailkill each scored once. 

The Lady Lions take on Tallulah Falls on Thursday. 

GEORGE WALTON ACADEMY BOYS 3, LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 0: No other information was provided. 

The Lions will take on Riverside Military Academy on Friday at 5 p.m.

BUFORD GIRLS 1, LOGANVILLE 0: Angeli Vurgos found the back of the net on Tuesday in Loganville. Maggie Leland had the clean sheet for the Lady Wolves (7-3-2, 3-0 Region 8-5A).

On Friday, Buford hosts Clarke Central. 

GAINESVILLE BOYS 8, APALACHEE 0: Anthony Alday scored two goals for the Red Elephants (10-1, 5-1 Region 8-6A), while Armando Hernandez contributed a goal and four assists. Elvis Bonilla, Miguel Santana, Bryan Lopez, Aram Lara and Eduardo Bautista all scored once.  

Gainesville hosts Habersham Central on Friday.

JOHNSON BOYS 9, WALNUT GROVE 0: Junior Arellana had a hat trick for the Knights (9-2, 3-0 Region 8-5A). Cole Bowen and Edgar Lopez added two goals each, while Juan Carlos Gomez and Jeffrey Castillo each scored once. 

JOHNSON GIRLS 4, WALNUT GROVE 3: Dani Malone scored two goals for the Lady Knights, while Jenna Degroot and Maria Rivera each scored once.


BASEBALL

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 8, COMMERCE 4: Ian Echols got the start for the Lions (11-2, 3-0 Region 8-A), and struck out one over six innings. Jordan Thomas had a pair of doubles in three at bats, knocking in three RBIs. Sam Stewart was 3 for 4 with a pair of RBIs.

Lakeview Academy takes on Prince Avenue Christian on Friday at 5:30 p.m.

JEFFERSON 14, JACKSON COUNTY 4: Lane Watkins got the win, pitching five innings for the Dragons (11-0, 4-0 Region 8-3A). 

Jefferson visits Jackson County on Friday for a doubleheader.


TENNIS

GAINESVILLE BOYS 5, HABERSHAM CENTRAL 0: Dylan Pineda, Philip Mady and Ben Burns won in singles play for the Red Elephants on Tuesday in Mount Airy. In doubles, Michael Head/Caleb Anderson and Matthew Carter/Luke Griffin also picked up wins for Gainesville.

On Wednesday, Gainesville visits North Hall at 4 p.m.

GAINESVILLE GIRLS 4, HABERSHAM CENTRAL 1: Hannah Williams took home a singles win, while Callie Patterson/Grayson Wagner and Savannah Brown/Hannah Wagner won in doubles. Habersham Central forfeited the singles 3 match.

FLOWERY BRANCH GIRLS 4, WHITE COUNTY 1: Annabelle Thomas, Alyssa McSpadden and Olivia Nance all took home singles victories for the Lady Falcons (9-4, 3-1 Region 7-4A). The team of Julianna Velaj/Traci Timmons won a doubles match.

NORTH HALL GIRLS 5, CHEROKEE BLUFF 0: Anna Montgomery, Lauren Davis and Baylee Turner all got singles wins for North Hall (9-3, 4-0 Region 7-3A). Teams of Sydney Patterson/Raquel Kallab and Ella Oxley/Lauren White won in doubles. 

The Lady Trojans will take on Gainesville Wednesday at 4 p.m.

FLOWERY BRANCH BOYS 5, WHITE COUNTY 0: Drayton Matus, Jack Thomas and Caden Caldwell won in singles. Mauricio Castro/Nate Shedd and Gunnar Hetzel/David Eskew brought home doubles wins.

NORTH HALL BOYS 4, CHEROKEE BLUFF 1: Ethan Surles and Kody Dills picked up singles victories for the Trojans (6-6, 3-1 Region 7-3A). Forrester Terry/Jackson Roush and Noah Wagner/Jake Bennett brought home doubles wins. 

North Hall takes on Gainesville Wednesday at 4 p.m.
