High school scoreboard: Gainesville upsets No. 8 Winder-Barrow, 38-16

Gainesville High junior quarterback Tre’ Luttrell threw for 254 yards and rushed for 111 yards and two scores as the Red Elephants beat No. 8 Winder-Barrow 38-16 on Friday in Winder. 

Montavious Tabor rushed for a touchdown for the Red Elephants (3-5, 2-1 Region 8-6A), while Tre Blackwell had a touchdown catch. 

With the win, Gainesville moves into a three-way tie for second place in the region behind first-place Dacula. The Red Elephants need a win against Apalachee on Friday to lock up a postseason berth for the 18th straight season. 

RIVERSIDE MILITARY ACADEMY 35, GEORGIA MILITARY COLLEGE 7: Isaac Teasley led the way for the Eagles with 115 passing yards, 88 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown on Friday during the Military Bowl in Gainesville. 

Khalid Duke had a rushing touchdown with a receiving touchdown for the Eagles (1-7) while teammate Charles Dimnwaobi added a 51-yard touchdown. Ebube Alfred-Igbokwe contributed to Riverside’s defense by recovering a fumble for a touchdown. Mitchell Rodriguez and Harry Kim had 12 tackles apiece for the Eagles. Miles Halas finished the night with two interceptions for Riverside Military.

Riverside Military hosts Athens Christian on Friday in Gainesville.

HEBRON CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 42, LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 26: Lions senior quarterback Alec Bornhorst ran for three  touchdowns — two in the fourth quarter — on Friday at Jock Hornor Field in Gainesville. Trailing 35-14 in the fourth quarter, Bornhorst ran for scores of 15 and 36 yards. He finished with 102 yards rushing.

K.J. Millwood had five catches for 154 yards for the Lions (2-6, 1-6 Region 8-A).

On Friday, Lakeview Academy visits Towns County in Hiawassee.

DAWSON COUNTY 56, EAST HALL 48: SeVaughn Clark rushed 31 times for 230 yards and a score, and the Tigers’ defense withstood a last-minute drive by the Vikings on Friday in Dawsonville. Dawson County senior quarterback Coey Watson rushed for 155 yards and four scores for the Tigers. 

Watson also threw a touchdown pass.

With the win, Dawson County (6-2, 4-0 Region 7-4A) locked up a home game to open the postseason next month. 

On Friday, Dawson County visits Lumpkin County in Dahlonega.

LANIER CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 48, NOTRE DAME ACADEMY 28: Daniel Eppling was 11 for 14 passing for 209 yards to pace the Lightning on Friday. Jeremiah Bonds led the Lanier Christian Academy ground game with six runs for 80 yards and three scores. Also for the Lightning, Charlie Vera had 53 receiving yards and 49 rushing. Roderick Collins rushed for a touchdown and had a receiving score for Lanier Christian.

On Friday, Lanier Christian opens the playoffs against North Georgia Falcons in Cumming.
