High school scoreboard: Gainesville boys and girls tennis teams both sweep Dacula in home victories

The Gainesville boys tennis team swept Dacula Tuesday night for an easy 5-0 home victory over the Falcons at Longwood Park.

Dylan Pineda, Philip Mady and Ben Burns all took home singles victories. The teams of Michael Head/Caleb Anderson and Joseph Diaz/Matthew Carter won in doubles. 

The Red Elephants will be back in action when they take on Riverside Military on Thursday.

GAINESVILLE GIRLS 5, DACULA 0: The win was Gainesville’s second straight region victory to start the year. 

The Lady Red Elephants will go up against Winder on Thursday.

BUFORD BOYS 5, CEDAR SHOALS 0: Dean Kingsley, Luke Davidson and Todd Goehmann won at singles for the Wolves on Tuesday. In doubles, Cameron Tidwell/Caleb Williamson and Dylan Appling/Grayson Gilbert also won.

BUFORD GIRLS 5, CEDAR SHOALS 0: Callie Perkins, Caroline Henderson and Sydney Ryder won in singles matches for the Lady Wolves. Sydney Grothe/Izzy Brewer and Sophie Brewer/Olivia Hundley won at doubles.   

BROOKWOOD GIRLS 4, FLOWERY BRANCH 1: Olivia Nance picked up the Lady Falcons lone win of the day at No. 3 singles.


BUFORD GIRLS 5, JOHNSON 1: Cindy Borgelt, Heidi Orr, Arden Paulino, Chloe Kerr and Emma Danley all found the back of the net for the Lady Wolves (5-1-2) on Tuesday at Billy Ellis Memorial Stadium in Oakwood. Up next, Buford faces Wesleyan on Friday. 

DAWSON COUNTY GIRLS 4, CHESTATEE 1: Kyleigh Drew scored in the 70th minute for the Lady War Eagles on an assist from Kristy Guardiola on Tuesday. Up next, Chestatee hosts Blessed Trinity.


JEFFERSON 15, MONROE AREA 0: Lane Watkins picked up the win for the Dragons. 

Tuesday’s result puts Jefferson at 6-0 to start the year and 1-0 in Region 8-AAA. The Dragons will play next on Thursday when they travel to Monroe Area for a region doubleheader.
