The Flowery Branch volleyball team took down Lumpkin County Thursday on senior night, 21-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-21.
Senior Katie Williams led the team offensively with 25 kills and a pair of assists. The Lady Falcons also got good production from seniors Sierra Lutz (six kills, four aces, two blocks) and Maria Martinez (one block).
GAINESVILLE SWEEPS TRI-MATCH: The Lady Red Elephants (24-6) took down West Hall 25-21, 25-22 and Lanier Christian Academy 25-16, 25-16.
Isabella Appling had 15 digs, four kills, a block and an ace on the night, while Ansley turner added 11 digs, 15 kills and a block.
Gainesville will open Hall County Tournament play this weekend at Chestatee in pool play with Cherokee Bluff and East Hall.
Buford took down Walnut Grove 6-4 Thursday evening to lock up the No. 2 seed in the Region 8-5A tournament.
Ansleigh Hollifield got the start and the win for the Lady Wolves, striking out 14 over seven innings with no walks.
Shamya Young led the way offensively, going 2 for 3 with a pair of RBIs. Abbi Perkins went 2 for 4 with two RBIs, while Anabel Adams batted 2 for 4 with one RBI and Olivia Duncan went 1 for 3 with a pair of runs scored.
Buford will be back in action in the region tournament next Tuesday against Loganville at Walnut Grove.
EAST HALL 15, NORTH HALL 0: The Lady Vikings only needed three innings to take the victory Thursday evening. The win keeps East Hall undefeated in region play.
