Top-seeded Lady Wolves record two-game sweep of Miller Grove

Buford’s Ansleigh Hollified threw four no-hit innings in the opener as it swept Miller Grove 13-0 and 19-1 in the second round of the Class 5A state tournament Wednesday in Buford. With the win, the Lady Wolves head to Columbus looking for their 11th consecutive state championship. The first-game opponent for Buford on Thursday is still to be determined. 

Also in the opener, Katie Perkins had a double, triple and three RBIs for the Lady Wolves, while Anabel Adams chipped in a bases-load triple that scored three runs. 

Kelsey Bennett and Janelle Mathis both had two hits and a pair of RBIs for the Lady Wolves. 

In Game 2, Mathis and Mariah Wicker were both 3 for 3 with a double, two RBIs and scored twice for Buford. Abbi Perkins was 2 for 3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored for the Lady Wolves. Bennett finished the deciding third game with two hits (one being a triple), two RBIs and two runs scored.
