High school scoreboard: Banks leads East Hall softball team past Franklin County

Macy Banks threw five strikeouts through seven innings in East Hall’s 5-3 win against Franklin County on Wednesday. 

Abigail Brown singled in a run in the first inning. With the score tied 3-3 in the fourth inning, Brown ripped an RBI single off of McKenzie LaCount. East Hall hosts Lumpkin County at 5:30 p.m. today in Gainesville.

On Tuesday, East Hall defeated Union County 9-4. Banks was the Lady Vikings’ winning pitcher.


Halston Hillier had eight kills in Buford’s win (25-9, 25-14) against North Cobb on Wednesday at Woodward Academy in College Park. The Lady Wolves (8-0) went on to win their second match against Woodward Academy (23-25, 25-20, 25-20). 

Tatum Shipes had 15 kills and 12 digs with five blocks, while teammate Julieanne Saliba finished with 10 digs against the War Eagles. Buford hosts Walton today in Buford.

JOHNSON SWEEPS WINDER-BARROW AND JACKSON COUNTY: Emma Hernandez led the Johnson attack with eight kills, eight aces and three blocks as the Lady Knights defeated Winder-Barrow (25-18, 25-23) and Jackson County (22-25, 25-20, 25-16) on Tuesday in Gainesville. 

Grace Eidson had 15 kills, 31 assists and 17 digs for the Lady Knights (4-4), while Alivia Farley finished the night with eight kills, 14 assists and 14 digs.

Johnson plays Gainesville and Lakeview Academy today in Gainesville.

FLOWERY BRANCH SWEEPS CHESTATEE AND FORSYTH CENTRAL: Anna Marshall had five kills, two assists and three blocks in Flowery Branch’s win against Forsyth Central (25-10, 25-19) on Tuesday at Chestatee in Gainesville. 

Katie Williams led the attack against Chestatee with six kills and three aces as the Lady Falcons beat the Lady War Eagles in straight sets (25-8, 25-21).

EAST HALL SWEEPS STEPHENS COUNTY AND RABUN COUNTY: Niyah Rucker had 21 kills, five aces, 13 digs and three blocks in East Hall’s sweep of Stephens County (25-18, 25-17) and Rabun County (25-20, 26-24) Tuesday at Stephens County in Toccoa. 

Holly Poole ended the night with nine kills, 13 digs, two assists and four aces for the Lady Vikings, who face Madison County and Morgan County at 5 p.m. today in Danielsville.
