Skyler Thellman went 2 for 2 with a two-RBI double and a pair of runs scored in the Lakeview Academy baseball team’s 11-1 win in five innings against Tallulah Falls on Thursday in Gainesville.
The Lions (6-5) scored in every inning, starting with a five-run outburst in the bottom of the first. Lakeview Academy’s Holden Cooper gave up one unearned run on three hits over five innings on the mound.
Jordan Thomas and Campbell Melson each went 2 for 2 with two runs scored for the Lions, while Evan Gravitt drove in a pair of runs in his 2-for-3 outing at the plate. Thomas stole one base, while Melson collected an RBI.
Lakeview Academy faces Commerce at 4:30 p.m. today in Gainesville.
GAINESVILLE 5, JEFFERSON 4: Charlie Wall went 2 for 3, scored two runs and drove in another for the Red Elephants on Thursday in Jefferson.
Ryan Godfrey (2 for 3) hit a grand slam for the Dragons (7-4) in the bottom of the sixth inning, but Gainesville was able to hang on for the win.
Gainesville’s Cale Conley and Cameron Wilson had an RBI apiece, with the latter player also scored a run. Jared Smith registered two stolen bases while going 2 for 4 and scoring a run, while Red Elephants teammate Dalton Kyle went 2 for 3 with a run scored. Clay Coffey contributed to Gainesville’s effort by walking twice and recording a hit.
Pitcher Kyle York picked up the win for the Red Elephants, recording five strikeouts through six innings.
Jefferson (7-4) will take on Flowery Branch today at State Mutual Stadium in Rome.
