James Mitchell threw four innings in relief and racked up nine strikeouts to earn the win as Cherokee Bluff topped North Hall, 9-8, at Jody Davis Field. Carsen Plumadore threw the first three innings for the Bears (9-7, 5-4 Region 7-3A) and allowed four hits and four walks.
Dylan Kautz, Jackson Kemp and Parker Shope each had two hits and drove in a run for Cherokee Bluff.
Caleb Piland, Brady Beal and Chandler Shope each chipped in a hit for the Bears.
On Monday, Cherokee Bluff faces Rabun County in a doubleheader.
LAKEVIEW 6, PRINCE AVENUE 5: Andrew Estes singled to bring in KJ Millwood for the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Campbell Melson and Skyler Thellman both went 2 for 3 on the night. Thellman batted in two runs.
Sam Stewart went 2 for 4. Holden Cooper started and pitched five innings, allowing four runs and striking out three. He also doubled to bring in a run in the sixth inning. Melson earned the win in two innings of relief, allowing one unearned run and two strikeouts.
The Lions (12-2, 4-0 Region 8-A) play a doubleheader at noon on Saturday at Mount Vernon.
