High school baseball: Lakeview Academy earns doubleheader sweep against Towns County

Sam Stewart smacked a home run with two RBIs in Game 1 of Lakeview Academy’s 15-8 win and doubleheader sweep against Towns County on Friday. 

Ian Echols drove in four RBIs for the Lions. Holden Cooper was 3 for 3 with two RBIs for Lakeview Academy. 

Evan Gravitt had a single and scored twice for the Lions. Holden Cooper was the winning pitcher for Lakeview Academy with seven strikeouts.

In Game 2, Campbell Melson drove in two runs in Lakeview Academy’s 10-2 win. Andrew Estes went 2 for 2 with two scored runs and two stolen bases for Lakeview Academy. JD Roark contributed an RBI with a stolen base for 

Lakeview Academy. Jordan Thomas also had an RBI for the Lions.

NORTH HALL 18, DAWSON COUNTY 8: Caleb Clark drove in four runs for North Hall on Friday in Gainesville. Charlie Erickson, Caleb Wiley, Caden Bales and Reese Olson each had two RBIs for the Trojans. Kelton Kieschnick had four strikeouts for North Hall pitching.

North Hall hosts Hart County with a doubleheader in the best-of-three playoff series starting Thursday in Gainesville. Game 3 is Friday, if needed. Time is still to be determined.

BUFORD 16, WALNUT GROVE 2: Evan Place had five RBIs for Buford on Friday. Griffin Price and Garrison Price contributed two RBIs apiece for the Wolves. Cole Hunter was 2 for 3 for the night for Buford. Noah Ledford, Trey Adams, Brandon Jolliff, Preston Hagan and Grant James each had a hit for the Wolves.

Buford hosts Rome in the doubleheader of the best-of-three Class 5A playoff series, starting Thursday at Gerald McQuiag Field.

MADISON COUNTY 5, JEFFERSON 4: Ryan Godfrey had an RBI for Jefferson. Hart Blackstock also contributed an RBI for the Dragons (18-9, 11-4 Region 8-4A). Josh Cotton and Sammy Elegreet doubled for Jefferson. Justin Cole stole a base for the Dragons.

Jefferson faces an opponent still to be determined, starting with a doubleheader in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs Thursday in Jefferson.


CHESTATEE 2, CREEKVIEW 0: Kyleigh Drew had a brace (two goals) for Chestatee on Friday. Genesis Reyes added an assist for the Lady War Eagles.

Chestatee plays St. Pius to open the Class 4A state playoffs on Wednesday.
