Gwinnett loses with long ball against Buffalo

Right fielder Mitch Jones connected on his 13th home run of the season, a team high for the Gwinnett Braves, in a 5-4 loss to the Buffalo Bisons on Wednesday at Coolray Field. Freddie Freeman led the Triple-A G-Braves with a 3-for-4 night at the plate and an RBI. Matt Young was also 3-for-4 with three runs for Gwinnett.

Tied 3-3 in the sixth inning, Buffalo’s Lucas Duda and Mke Jacobs both connected on home runs against Gwinnett’s Todd Redmond. Redmond (7-7) pitched six innings and allowed five earned runs and seven hits.

Gwinnett wraps up a four-game series against the Bison at 7 p.m. tonight at Coolray Field. Atlanta’s Jair Jurrjens will be making his third rehab start of the season with Gwinnett.
