Puleo leads Lady Dogs past Oakland

OAKLAND, Mich. — Angelo Puleo scored 22 points and Georgia fought off a second-half rally to beat Oakland 64-61 Thursday night.

Georgia (2-0) jumped to a 7-0 lead and led 32-19 with 4:41 left in the first half on a layup by Angel Robinson. The Lady Bulldogs led 42-30 at halftime.

Georgia took a 58-48 lead with 6:41 left in the game on a layup by Jasmine Lee. The Golden Grizzlies (2-1) scored the next 10 points to erase the lead, tying the score on a fastbreak layup by April Kidd at the 2:42 mark.

Puleo broke a 60-all tie at 1:03 with a jumper. Kidd made one of two free throws and Oakland got the ball back after a jumper by Puleo was blocked.

After a steal by Christy Marshall, Puleo made two free throws to complete the scoring.

Brittany Carnago led Oakland with 14 points.
