Nine Bulldogs earn preseason honor

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Georgia running back Knowshon Moreno and a fellow Bulldog, linebacker Dannell Ellerbe were named to the first team by Southeastern Conference football coaches in their preseason poll.

Moreno, a sophomore, was one of six unanimous selections in the poll, which was released on Monday.

The Bulldogs had nine selections for first, second and third teams. LSU had 14 and Florida had 11.

Quarterback Matthew Stafford was named to the second-team offense along with wide receiver Mohamed Massequoi. Defensive lineman Geno Atkins and defensive back Asher Allen were chosen for the second team.

Named to the third team were defensive tackle Jeff Owens, linebacker Rennie Curran and punter Brian Mimbs.
