ATHENS — Justin Houston returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown and also had four tackles and two sacks to lead the defense in Georgia's spring scrimmage on Saturday at Sanford Stadium.

The scrimmage in full pads came one week before Georgia ends its spring schedule with its annual G-Day game.

"It was hard-hitting, the energy was there all the time, and I saw some good leadership," said coach Mark Richt.

Houston, a sophomore, had four tackles in addition to the interception of a Joe Cox pass.

"Justin was the most productive defensive player," Richt said. "He caught my eye and made a lot of plays. We missed some more opportunities to catch the ball."

Cox completed 6 of 18 passes for 65 yards and two touchdowns, including a 26-yard scoring pass to A.J. Green.

Freshman quarterback Aaron Murray completed a 64-yard touchdown pass to Israel Troupe.

Murray was 6-for-10 passing for 132 yards and two touchdowns. Freshman Zach Mettenberger was 1-for-5 passing for 39 yards.

Junior backup safety Andrew Johnson suffered a dislocated right ankle in the scrimmage.
