University of Georgia linebacker Rennie Curran was named Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week by the league office on Monday.
Curran, a sophomore, had six tackles, one sack and two quarterback pressures for the Bulldogs in their 14-7 win against South Carolina on Saturday in Columbia.
Curran also forced a fumble late in the fourth quarter on the Gamecocks’ 1-yard line to secure Georgia’s win.
Through three games, Curran leads the Bulldogs with 20 tackles and three tackles for loss. He also leads SEC linebackers with two sacks.
