Georgia lets big lead slip away

Cody Freeman’s run-scoring single gave Mississippi State an 11-10 walk-off victory over Georgia to clinch a Southeastern Conference series Sunday in Starkville.

Mississippi State (14-10, 2-4 SEC) erased an eight-run deficit by scoring eight runs in the eighth to tie the game off the Bulldog bullpen and then won it in the ninth. Georgia slipped to 9-14,1-5. It spoiled a solid outing by Georgia sophomore Michael Palazzone who went a career-high seven innings with nine strikeouts and left with a 10-2 lead.
