ATHENS - After No. 19 Georgia's scrimmage Wednesday against a Bulldogs scout team using Boise State's playbook, coach Mark Richt says there's much room for improvement before they face the real Broncos team Sept. 3 in Atlanta.

"We would not have been ready today," Richt said. "Even our pregame warmup left a little bit to be desired. The opening drive of the offense was just kind of sloppy.

They didn't look like they were ready. There were other things we have to get straightened out. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't clean."

He said he sees many areas of the team that need attention - communication and substitution patterns being potential concerns.

Brandon Boykin had two long interception returns and Tavarres King caught a winning touchdown pass Wednesday in No. 19 Georgia's scrimmage against win a Bulldogs scout team running Boise State's playbook.

Richt named four seniors - Boykin, center Ben Jones, defensive end DeAngelo Tyson and kicker Blair Walsh - as captains for the Sept. 3 opener against No. 5 Boise State in Atlanta.

He used a scenario that had Georgia down 31-0 to Boise State to begin the second half. The Bulldogs "won" 34-30 behind a combined 115 yards rushing by tailbacks Isaiah Crowell and Ken Malcome and six interceptions by the Georgia defense.

Richt is listing Crowell, a high-profile freshman, as the starter over Richard Samuel and Malcome.

On Thursday, the Bulldogs will concentrate on kickoff returns and coverage and some 11 on 11 situations. On Friday, Georgia will work in short-yardage situations and go over what they must do following a safety.

King's "winning catch" came on a fade route in the end zone. No. 2 quarterback Hutson Mason made the throw.
Walsh kicked a 56-yard field goal.
