Gainesville girls, Davis boys take home middle school titles

Rebecca Webster scored 13 points to lead Gainesville Middle to a 32-29 win against North Hall in the championship game of the Hall County tournament Thursday night at Chestatee Middle. Katelyn Whelchel scored nine for the Lady Red Elephants and Liza Carpenter added eight. Sarah Paschall scored a game-high 16 points for the Lady Trojans.

Davis Middle’s boys scored 23 points in the fourth quarter to cruise to victory in the championship game of the Hall County tournament Thursday at Chestatee High.

Imani Cross scored a game high 18 points to lead Davis. Quincy Hodges scored 17 and Tyler McBroom chipped in 16 for Davis.

Stephen Mason scored 15 and Joseph Haley added 10 to lead the Red Elephants.

Prep wrestling

East Hall High senior wrestlers Bryant Wine (145 pounds) and B.J. Bagwell (160) both picked up a pair of wins in a tri-match against North Hall and Dawson County on senior night Thursday night at East Hall.

The Vikings picked up a 45-33 win against Dawson County. Chris Ingram (119), Salvador Vallajo (125), Lewis Melendez (130), Stephen Mendoza (140), Elijah Buffington (152) and Crissel Flores (285) also picked up wins for East Hall.

Kenneth Jackson (171) and Flores (285) had wins for the Vikings in a 51-24 loss to North Hall.

Trojans win a pair

The North Hall wrestling team won matches against Dawson County and East Hall Thursday night at East Hall. With the wins, North Hall has 17 wins which ranks third most in school-history.

Kyle Patton (112), Wesley Adams (119), Cody Wilsdon (125), Zach Agerton (130), Alex Carnes (140), Scott Freeman (145), Will Vaughn (152), Jason Day (160) and Colby McClain (189) all won for the Trojans in a 53-30 win over Dawson County.

North Hall 51, East Hall 24

Josh Anderson (103), Patton (112), Adams (119), Wilsdon (125), Agerton (130), Nick Quinn (135), Carnes (140), Day (152) and McClain (189) all won for North Hall in a win against the Vikings.

PREP BASKETBALL
Riverside 62, Weber School 45

Joseph Lister led the Eagles (7-10, 3-5 GISA AAA-North) with 24 points in a win Thursday night at The Weber School.

Riverside took control of the game with an 18-7 lead after the first quarter and extended its lead to 25-9 at halftime.

Riverside plays host to Greater Gwinnett Christian tonight at Riverside.
