G-Braves blast Red Wings

The Gwinnett Braves defeated the Rochester Red Wings 12-2 Thursday at Frontier Field.

The Braves improve their record to 31-24 while the Red Wings fall to 26-26. With Norfolk (35-18) and Durham (34-20) both losing Thursday, the G-Braves pick up a game in the win column and now fall only 4.5 games out of first place in the International League standings.

Similar to Wednesday’s win, the Braves struck early, scoring four runs in the first inning. The newest G-Brave, Jordan Schafer, found his swing and was 3-for-4 with a home run in the sixth inning. Seven different players had at least one RBI in the game.

For Gwinnett, Todd Redmond won his third game of the season, allowing two runs in five innings of work.
Francisley Bueno pitched three scoreless innings and Luis Valdez came in for the ninth inning.

Jason Jones was credited with the loss after allowing 11 hits and eight runs (seven of them earned) in three innings.
