G-Braves beat Toledo

The Gwinnett Braves defeated the Toledo Mud Hens 6-4 on Monday night at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville.

 

With the win, the G-Braves improved their record to 52-57 and pulled within 16.0 games of International South leader Durham and within 7.0 games of wild-card leader Louisville.  

 

G-Braves starter Brandon Beachy won his first Triple-A start, throwing six innings and allowing just one run on five hits while striking out five. Closer Craig Kimbrel earned his fifteenth save of the season in a scoreless ninth inning.

 

Wes Timmons went 1-for-2 with a home run, two RBIs, two runs and two walks while Joe Thurston added a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored for the G-Braves.

 

 Gwinnett ends a season-long home stand tonight against Toledo at 7:05 p.m.
