The Gwinnett Braves defeated the Norfolk Tides 6-2 on Wednesday night at Gwinnett Stadium. The G-Braves improve to 53-45 while the Tides fall to 54-42 on the season. With the win, Gwinnett trails Norfolk by just two games in the International League South Division.

Gwinnett starter Jo-Jo Reyes allowed two runs in four innings on the mound. Reyes got the no-decision start, but it was the most innings Reyes has logged since his May 8 start with Atlanta. Atlanta Braves’ rehab Buddy Carlyle retired all three batters he faced and held two inherited runners on base to pick up the win. Carlyle is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in his two rehab appearances with Gwinnett. Juan Perez, Jon Huber and Vladimir Nunez held Norfolk scoreless in the final four innings.

Clint Sammons and Barbaro Canizares led the G-Braves offensively. Both players recorded three hits on the night. Brian Barton drove home three of the eight Gwinnett runs. Chris Burke also had a pair of hits and a pair of RBI for the G-Braves.

Gwinnett and Norfolk will play their final game at Gwinnett Stadium this season. The G-Braves are expected to start RHP James Parr (0-1, 7.30 ERA), who will face RHP Chris Tillman (8-5, 2.42 ERA) in the series finale. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. The contest will be televised live on Comcast Sports Southeast.
