G-Braves beat Norfolk 8-2

Highlighted by Brooks Conrad’s two-run home run, the Gwinnett Braves jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning and defeated the Norfolk Tides 8-2 on Tuesday in Norfolk.

Charlie Morton picked up the win for Gwinnett (7-12). Morton (2-1) threw five innings and struck out two.

Barbaro Canizares led Gwinnett at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a run scored. Brian Barton was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI and Gregor Blanco hit an RBI triple for the G-Braves.

Gwinnett and Norfolk complete the two-game series at 7:15 tonight when Gwinnett’s Todd Redmond (0-1) takes on Norfolk’s Rich Hill, who is pitching on a rehab assignment.
