West Hall graduate Colby Yates was recently named a starter to the Belmont Abbey College wrestling team.

Yates, a freshman, won both of his intrasquad challenge matches on Saturday, allowing him to become the team’s starting 133-pound wrestler.

The Times 2008 Wrestler of the Year won a Hall County record 213 matches in his career at West Hall, including a 57 during his senior year. Yates was a four-time state placer, three-time Area 7-AAA champion and a three-time Hall County champion.
