East Hall quarterback Austin Parker passed for six touchdowns and nearly 500 yards, according to his coach Bryan Gray, as the Vikings upset No. 7 Morgan County 50-36 in the first round of the Class 3A state playoffs on Friday in Madison.

It marks the first state playoff victory for the Vikings (7-4) since 1993 and first win against a ranked opponent since 2000.

“This is an amazing group of seniors, who just fight every day,” Gray said.

With the win, East Hall advances to visit Westminster in the second round next Friday in Atlanta. The Wildcats beat North Murray, 37-7, on Friday.

Trailing by 15 late in the first quarter, the Vikings went on to score 32 straight points and led 38-21 late in the third quarter. Leading 44-36 late in the fourth quarter, East Hall locked up the win with another touchdown.

East Hall’s leading receiver was senior Sedrion Morse, who had four touchdown catches.
