Moore leads City Championship at Chattahoochee
Leader shot a 70 in opening round

Stuart Moore fired a 2-under 70 to grab the outright first-round lead at the City Championship Friday afternoon at the Chattahoochee Golf Club in Gainesville.

Moore, the Gainesville High graduate and former Auburn University golfer, has a two-stroke lead heading into today’s second round, set to begin at 11:30 a.m.

Moore will play in today’s final group of the championship flight, set to tee off at 12:50 p.m., with Nathan Williams and Ricky Brown. Williams and Brown shot 72 and 73, respectively, in Friday’s opening round.

Three players are tied for fourth at 4-over par. Pep Brown, The Times’ Boys Golfer of the Year, Joe Turner and Will Peeples all shot first-round scores of 74.

Parks Brown (75) is in seventh place, while Hunter Young, Jeff Waggoner, Justin Mark Cochran and Lee Rogers are all tied for eighth following opening round scores of 77.

Three golfers are tied for 12th at 8-over par and three are tied at 9 over. The City Championship continues today and finishes with the final round on Sunday.
