The Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association played its monthly individual flighted strokes competition Wednesday at the Chattahoochee golf course. 

In the white tee flight, Don Wells placed first, while Don Sorrell and Dave Long tied for second. Paul Payne placed fourth, while A.J. Kiker and Herb Sckerl tied for fifth.

In the gold tee first flight, Don Gage, Harry Barnett and Jim Hollobaugh tied for first, and Gene Weschler placed fourth. Marty Anderson and Carlyle Cox tied for fifth.

In the gold tee second flight, first place went to Guy Long, with Jim Van Dyke and Roger Futrell tying for second.

Gary Palmer placed fourth and Ben Brooks and Bud Clegg tied for fifth.

Bob Watson won the gold tee third flight, while Robert Mallis placed second. Third went to Greg Taira, fourth to Larry Jewett and fifth to Wayne Nelson.

Closest to the pin winners were Watson on No. 3, Weschler on No. 5, Jere Cochran on No. 12 and Futrell on No. 17.

DOGFIGHT: The Wednesday Dogfight took place at Chicopee Woods golf course this week.

Tom Bolton, Don Schrum, Chirs Porter and Richard Drye combined for a score of 24-under-par to take first place while Rickey Brown, Darren Chandler, Karl Steigele and Lou Vega placed second at 20-under-par.

In the individual competition, Terry McFarland, Schrum, Ricky Brown and Geoff Archibald tied for first with a score of 67.

Porter, Karl Steigele and Vega each carded a 60 to tie for fifth.

LUNA: The Luna’s Tuesday Golf Group played at Hammers Glen golf course in Homer this week.

First place went to the team of Larry Miller, Don Smallwood, Richard Strickland and Royce Deaton.

The team of Frank House, Joe Campbell, Doug McMahan and Jimmy Harritos placed second while Gene Weschler, Leggs Clark, Jerry Johns and Grady Smith teamed up for third.

Closest to the pin winners were Jack Barrett (No. 2), Jim Cornett (No. 6), Juan Luna (No. 13) and Cleve Brown (No. 17).

DPG: The DPG played matches on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday this week at Chicopee Woods golf course. On Monday, Dwight Miller placed first with a score of +4. Denis Jordan and Bob Kidd tied for second with a -1.

Wednesday’s individual match was won by Steve Knowles with a +2. Knowles teamed with Dave Jetter to take first in the team event as well.

On Friday, Charley Kilby and Ken Lightfoot tied for first place at +3. Terrence Dale took third place with a +1 and Knowles was fourth with a -1.
