Local golf: Wells, Cage win flights at Chattahoochee event

Don Wells took first place in the white tee flight and Don Gage took first in the gold tee flight as the Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association played its monthly Individual Flighted Strokes competition Wednesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.

In the white tee flight, Herb Sckerl, Larry Cohan and Bob Watson finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively.
Gene Weschler and Dick Bachman tied for fifth.

In the gold tee flight, Dave Gleason took second while Ben Brooks, Clay Bartlett and Ed Pledger tied for third.

Closest to the pin winners were Wells on No. 3, Books on No. 5 and No. 12 and Paul Payne on No. 17.

DOGFIGHT: Greg Lee and Vince Jonte’ combined to shoot an 8-under-par to take first place in the Wednesday Dogfight this week at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

Walt Hope and Mark Black placed second at 7-under, with Hope taking first place in the individual scoring with a 70.
Lee and Jonte’ tied for second at 72 and Mark Black and Don Schrum each fired a 73 to tied for fourth place.

DPG: Jerry Shell took first place on Wednesday and Doug Padgett took first on Thursday as the DPG played matches at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

Shell fired an even round to win, while Bob Kidd and Horace Smallwood tied for second at 3-under.

Padgett’s +3 won in the second match, while Dave Jetter placed second at +2.
