Local golf: State Sen. Miller aces hole at Lake Lanier Islands

State Sen. Butch Miller scored a hole-in-one Wednesday at the Legacy Link course at Lake Lanier Islands.

Miller aced the par-3 No. 10 hole from 111 yards, “hitting the cup on the fly.” He was playing with partners Jim Foote and Dean Foote.

“I was playing by the blind hog rule,” Miller said. “In that even a blind hog can find an acorn. Well, I’m a blind hog golfer.”

LUNA’S TUESDAY: Stan Davidson, Jr., Sam McGee, Cleve Brown and Tommy Lowery took first place in the Luna’s Tuesday golf group’s match last week at Chicopee Woods.

Second place went to the team of Gene Weschler, Joe Roberts, Don Rogers and Doug Van. Bud Black, Tom Sexton, Royce Deaton and Juan Luna came in third.

Closest to the pin winners were Brown (School No. 3), Black (School No. 12), McGee (Mill No. 2), and Van (Mill No. 5).

CLGA: The Chattahoochee Ladies Golf Club played an individual low gross, low net event last Tuesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.

In the first flight, Ann Hollobaugh won low gross and Sue Cronmiller took low net. Martha Nesbitt won low gross in the second flight, and Annie McMullan took low net.

Closest to the pin winners were Cronmiller (No. 3) and Joyce Hosking (No. 17).

DOGFIGHT: Greg Lee, Lou Vega, and Terry Scott tied Jim Arendt, Michael Thomas, and Ken Dooley for first place in last week’s Wednesday dogfight event at Chicopee Woods.

Ron Melin, Bob Arendt, and Len Kaper came in third.

Individually, Lee and Mark Black tied for first place. Dooley was third.
