Local golf: Shell wins twice in DPG events

The Dedicated Players Group played on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Chicopee Woods.

Jerry Pearson took first in Monday's event. Steve Knowles placed second, while Dave Jetter and Martha Shell tied for third.

Dwight Miller and Jerry Shell tied for first place on Wednesday, with Dennis Jones and Horace Smallwood coming in second and third place, respectively.

On Friday, Jerry Shell again took first place. Knowles placed second, followed by Jetter in third.

CMGA: The Chattahoochee Men's Golf Association played a three-best-ball, aggregated-net-strokes event Wednesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Club.

Paul Payne, Bill Sutton, Ed Pledger and Ron Bachman tied Harry Barnett, Ben Brooks, Don Gage and Bill Hardman for first place.

In third place was the team of A.J. Kiker, Bill Falls and Rolf Legbandt.

Closest to the pin winners were Jimmy Johnson (No. 3), Don Sorrell (No. 5), Bob Watson (No. 12), and Jim Carroll (No. 17).

WEDNESDAY DOGFIGHT: The Wednesday Dogfight group played a two-best-ball net event on Wednesday at Chicopee Woods.

Jim Arendt, Bob Arendt and Mike Tilson came in first with a 17-under par.

Greg Lee, Gail Gibson and Scott Holcomb took second place with a 13-under par.

Arendt finished first individually with a 67. Tilson took second with a 69, and Terry Clegg carded a 71 to finish in third place.

CLGA: The Chattahoochee Ladies Golf Association played an individual low gross, low net event on Tuesday.

First place in the low gross went to Ann Hollobaugh. Mona White finished second.

Paula Pilgrim won low net, and Ann White finished in second place.

Closest to the pin winners were Ann Hollobaugh (No. 3) and Ann White (No. 17).
