Local golf: Sckerl places 1st at Chattahoochee

The Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association played its monthly individual flighted strokes competition on Wednesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.

Herb Sckerl won the white flight, Jack Costello and Eddie Johnson tied for second place, and Don Wells was fourth.
In the gold first flight, Dick Bachman finished in first place, and Bill Sutton and Chuck Keith tied for second.

Ed Pledger took first place in the gold second flight, A.J. Kiker came in second, and Denny Momper was third.

In the gold third flight, Bill Holleman won, Johnny Little came in second, and Roger Miller was third.

Closest to the pin winners were Rick Reed (No. 3), Ben Brooks (No. 5), Roy Lyle (No. 12) and Wayne Nelson (No. 17).

DOGFIGHT: Cleve Sexton, Eric Awtry, Yoko Komoto and Jerry Horton won the three-best ball net event on Wednesday during the weekly dogfight at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

Greg Lee, Roger Stapp, Pat Ruiz and Darrel Pinner came in second, and Jim Arendt, Don Schrum, Vince Jonte’ and Yoshi were third.

Individually, Greg Lee, Eric Awtry and Mike Tilson all tied for first place.

DPG: Al Crego, Terrence Dale and Dwight Miller all tied for first place in the Dedicated Players Group match on Wednesday at Chicopee Woods.

Doug Padgett finished in second place, and Dennis Jones took third.

REUNION: This year, three Reunion Country Club senior golfers made a hole-in-one. Rick Feniello made his ace March 21 on hole No. 11. Wendel Peterson completed the feat on Nov. 6 on hole No. 14, and Jim Trimble made one on June 12 on hole No. 8.

Don Smith made a double eagle on hole No. 18 on July 26, and Ted Sawyer had back-to-back eagles on hole No. 9 on April 8 and 26 using a 9-iron both times.
