Local golf: Reunion Country Club holds Red Ball event

The team of Tom Dibble, John Dayton, Jack Ofsharick and Larry Yates took first place in the Reunion Country Club Red Ball event on Wednesday in Hoschton.

John Harris, Gene Cronic, Jon Summerville and Steve Zachok finished in second place, while Tony Gailey, Mike Reiland, Bob Patterson and Autry Smith came in third.

Larry Viola won closest to the pin on No. 3 and No. 11.

DPG: The Dedicated Players Group played matches on Monday and Wednesday last week at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

Dave Jetter won Monday’s event, Jim Simpson placed second, and Steve Knowles and Bob Arendt tied for third.

On Wednesday, Denis Jordan took first place, Charley Kilby was second and Bill Ingram took third.

CLGA: A pair of teams tied for first place at the Chattahoochee Ladies Golf Association’s best-ball team event on Tuesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.

Ann Hollobaugh, Martha Shell and Sally Woo tied Ann White, Sue Cronmiller and Nancy Negley for first place.

Closest to the pin winners were Hollobaugh (No. 3) and Shell (No. 17).

DOGFIGHT: Tom Bolton, Eric Awtry, Don Bull and Scott Thompson finished at 26-under par to take first place in last week’s Wednesday dogfight event at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

Jeff Frasier, Gayle Gibson, Tom Frier and Darrell Pinner finished in second place, and Roger Stapp, Don Schrum, Vince Jonte and Yoshi took third place.

Individually, Bolton led the field with a 63, Frasier carded a 64 for second place, and Pinner and Jim Arendt tied for third with scores of 65.

CMGA: Larry Cohan, Don Sorrell, Jim Carroll and Harry Whitehead tied Bill Sutton, Bill Oliver, A,J. Kiker and Wayne Jesup for first place in the Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association’s two-best-ball, aggregated-net-points game last Wednesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.

Paul Payne, Don Game, Harry Barnett and Dave Long took third place.

Closest to the pin winners were Jim Hollobaugh (No. 3), Kiker (No. 5), Jim Griffin (No. 12) and Buddy Reeves (No. 17).
