Walter Hope and Larry Grant combined for a score of 91 to take first place in the Chicopee Woods 27-Hole Two-Person Spring Challenge held April 9.
Dan Arthurs and Geoff Archibald were second at 91.5, with Gayle Gibson and Trey Venable finishing third at 92 and Terry Clegg and Roger Stapp (94) placing fourth.
PLEDGER AND KOLESAR WIN FUTRELL INVITATIONAL: With a net score of 57, Ed Pledger and Joe Kolesar took first place in the 13th Annual Futrell Invitational held Monday at the Scales Country Club in Homer.
Larry Cohan and Roger Miller (61) placed second in the two-man team, best-ball event, while the team of Jim Carroll and Don Gage tied Bud Clegg and A.J. Kiker for third at 63.
Closest to the pin winners were Dave Gleason on No. 2, Claude Schneider on No. 6, Gene Weschler on No. 13 and Kiker on No. 17. Weschler was also the low-gross winner at 77.
CLGA: Sue Cronmiller, Beulah Land and Jackie Somerville teamed up to take first place as the Chattahoochee Ladies Golf Association played a best-ball, team-net event Tuesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.
Barbara Smith, Peggy Hall and Nora Gleason finished in second place. Closest to the pin winners were Johann Stone on No. 3 and Jeanne Tompkins on No. 17.
LUNA: Bud Black, Joe Campbell, Doug Van and Doug McMahan teamed up to take first place as the Luna's Tuesday Golf Group played at Scales Country Club in Homer.
Second place went to the team of Cleve Brown, Don Smallwood, Gene Weschler and Richard Strickland, while Stand Davidson Jr., Sam McGee, Tom Sexton and Ronnie Ledford finished third.
Closest to the pin winners were Brown on No. 2, Campbell on No. 6, Davidson on No. 13 and Smallwood on No. 17.
CMGA: Buzz Hansen, Butch Teston, Bob Henderson and J. B. Johnston placed first as the Chattahoochee Men's Golf Association played a scramble match Wednesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.
Second place went to the team of Tom Sexton, Bill Falls, Don Gage and Ron Hopley, with the team of Bill Hardman, Bill Sutton, Ben Brooks and Larry Jewett placing third.
Fourth place went to John Gibbs, Ed Pledger, Carlyle Cox and Wayne Nelson, and fifth place to Paul Payne, Bill Kinser, Bud Clegg and Johnny Little.
Closest to the pin winners were Gary Palmer on No. 3, Doug Van on No. 5, Hardman on No. 12 and Claude Schneider on No. 17.
DOGFIGHT: The team of Gayle Gibson, Tommy Calhoun, Geoff Archibald and Terry McFarland combined to go 31-under-par and take first place in the Wednesday Dogfight at Chicopee Woods Golf Course this week.
Walt Hope, Karl Steigele, Don Schrum and Keith Fitzgerald's 26-under-par score was good enough for second.
Archibald (62) also placed first in the individual competition, with McFarland (63) in second and Roger Stapp (65) in third. Hope and Schrum tied for fourth at 66, while Alan Kellogg tied Calhoun for sixth at 68.
DPG: Charley Kilby took first place Monday as the DPG played the first of three matches at Chicopee Woods this week. Horace Smallwood was second, with Dennis Jones and Jerry Shell tieing for third.
Denis Jordan took first place Wednesday, with Doug Padgett in second, and Dave Jetter tieing Steve Knowles for third. On Friday, Jones took first, with Smallwood in second, and Kilby, Jetter and Jordan tieing for third.
